He's An Ex-Parrot! He Has Ceased to Be!

Would you mind, terribly, buying me a ticket to London?

Thanks!

News From the Nest -- Crazed

I have to laugh at myself, because yet again, I have to start a post with, "I've been really, really busy!" Unimaginative, but true. (I wonder how many posts I've done have started with that phrase?)

Our cousin from Chicago moved in with us a few weeks ago, bringing her dog along with her. Introducing the dogs wasn't as chaotic as I'd feared it would be; Sam has fear-aggression with other dogs and it could have gotten pretty hairy. Fortunately, I've been working with a trainer on the issue, and things went really well! Whew! They seem to be settling in well with each other, as you can tell from this video of Coda and Stevie playing together.

I guess this is fun....

Meanwhile, at the job, we moved the office on Friday. Talk about exhausted! The commute will be longer, unfortunately, but it's a nicer office and I get a window and lots of bright, natural light. I love that!

There are a couple of other things in the works, but I can't share until July, which is just killing me!

But the good news I can share is that I ran a bisque firing last night with some of the new baby dishes and Hallowe'en things. I'm pretty stressed about losing thirty-five hours a week in the studio and still having to make a profit this year if I'm going to continue to run this as a business. I'm not sure how to make up the time other than not sleeping!

First world problems, I guess. :)

End of the Line

“The train skimmed on softly, slithering, black pennants fluttering, black confetti lost on its own sick-sweet candy wind, down the hill, with the two boys pursuing, the air was so cold they ate ice cream with each breath.”

Weekend

I got to spend time in the studio this weekend! Yay! It was long overdue, but having a new job means that 30 hours a week have disappeared. When the office moves this Friday, it'll be more like 35-40. I know the rest of you have jobs and somehow make it work with family demands, etc., so I know I can do it. I'm just not sure how I'll make the show commitments I have, plus commissions, etc. Maybe a lottery win?

Anyway, I've been playing with some new designs, which are more sculptural. The ones pictured have a hole in the back of their heads for tea lights.
The one below was going to be a witch, but ended up with a pumpkin head. So he's got moobs? So what? :D
Still feeling my way with these, but overall, I'm pretty happy with them. Well, onwards to the next one!

Abandoned Island For Sale - Comes With Own Hauntings

A bed remains in one of the dormitories in the psychiatric ward of the abandoned Hospital of Poveglia on Aug. 27, 2011, in Venice, Italy. The island of Poveglia, with its ruined hospital and plague burial grounds, is said to be the most haunted location in the world. The area is located within a multimillion-dollar piece of real estate but is deserted and off limits to the public. The dark and derelict forbidding shores are only minutes away from the glamour of the Venice Film Festival on the Lido.
I ran across this article from a year ago. I wonder if anyone bought it?
