Abandoned. You can imagine the opulence, even as you take in the decay time has wrought on these places, once vibrant with lives being lived.

 

Someone slept in this bed. Someone who has long since passed away. There's his jacket, left behind as a reminder of its former owner.

Somehow, this abandoned priory reminded me of the Shirley Jackson book, "We Have Always Lived in the Castle."

It's a great gothic novel to take into the study on a cold winter's night...
