If you missed my previous announcement, Dark Harvest was originally a creepy Halloween book written by Norman Partridge.

I am crossing my fingers that the film does the book justice! It's one of my favorite Hallowe'en reads and I've been hoping for a while it would be brought to the screen. And while straight to video can be a concern, the horror classic Trick 'r Treat was released directly onto video, and it was glorious!

I'm having a watch party with friends tomorrow night. Honestly, shrimp tacos, beer, good friends, and the possibility of a good horror movie!

 It's funny. This year I felt like a slacker because there was no music, or graveyard, or most of the things I do for the haunt. Even so, I got a lot of compliments from folks!

Oh, and Froggys Fog's Cryofreeze worked perfectly when run through my chiller. Fantastic fog!

Well, the pity party is still hanging on, but I'm going to set it aside to let you know some of the cool things that will be hitting ShellHawk's Nest in the month of October!

In the tradition of the wonderful anthology, October Dreams, I contacted some of my fellow bloggers and Halloween enthusiasts and asked them to guest blog for me. They will be sharing their favorite Halloween memories, starting October 1st. The Bloodshed Brothers were gracious enough to agree to kick off the Season with a special vlog to share their memories, and it's fantastic! I am eagerly awaiting other guest bloggers' posts, and they'll be sprinkled into the October stew throughout the month. Stay tuned, because the awesomeness is on its way!

As always, I'll be part of the Cryptkeeper's Countdown to Halloween, so I hope to live up to the deal with fun content every day.

News from the Garage of Doom

You all have probably noticed a shift in my posts in the last week- a little spotty, and definitely short. It's because my time is shifting towards producing an income for myself through the manufacture of some of my pieces.

Truth is, I know nothing about manufacturing, nor how to get a corporate entity-like Target, for instance-to say, "Why, yes, ShellHawk, we really love your most amazing thingamabob and think the masses will, too!" I'm slogging through a book right now, hoping I'll get some idea of how to go about this.

I know only three things right now:

1. I know what I want manufactured.

2. I know I would love the entire product to be made in America, but the costs will likely make it impossible.

3. I want my name on it-similar to "Vera Wang for Target"-so I can expand it yearly and maintain at least a modicum of control.

So I'd like to ask for input on this topic. If anyone has any real experience with this-manufactuing on a large scale, as well as getting a corporation to distribute-please let me know. If you're a manufacturer and can give me some guidance on getting both ceramic and plastic blow-mold-type things made on a larger scale, please don't hesitate to contact me. If you're Target or Kohl's, let's do lunch and talk about the amazing things I can do for your Halloween designs.
