I've been moving away from buying my books at Amazon, due to their policy of purchasing rare books, scanning them, and then destroying them completely. (EFF THAT!) Let's not forget that in 2009, George Orwell's 1984 was removed from people's Kindles...
When I found out they were doing that (eff Jeffy Bonehead, too), I started looking around for online sources for books, preferably mom and pop kinds of used bookstores. I figure they're more in need of our support and patronage than ever, right?
That's how I found Thrift Books. I like their purpose statement and their story, and their prices are reasonable. I, too, think that books should be given a second chance, and with literacy rates dropping, supporting used bookstores which have physical books seems like the best option!
You might want to bookmark their website, since the Holidays are coming up! I'd advise ordering ahead of time, as the shipping, while timely, is not lickety-split like that other store.
