Huggable Urns?

Okay. I like creepy. It's why I do Halloween props. But I recently ran across something that genuinely creeped me out, and not in a, "Wow! I can use that for my haunt," kind of way.

Huggable urns. There's something deeply wrong about this.

The idea is that the proprietor was contacted from beyond the grave by dear old dad, who, at this point, had been cremated. Here's a direct quote:

Soon after my Dad passed away he started to communicate to me how upset he was that after living his life to the fullest he ended up in some ugly hard container. This was just not acceptable to him. Was I surprised!!!

Alrighty, then. I'm with Terry Pratchett on this: People who use more than one exclamation point show sure signs of insanity. Go to the site anyway. It's... interesting.

  1. I wonder how old the girl is that makes these. She sounds quite young and/or off her rocker. She talks about bringing the deceased to family gatherings. Tis' a bit creepy.

She's charging almost $200 for one of these. If someone actually likes this idea, they could go buy whatever stuffed creature they want for around $10 and stuff it with remains themselves.

  2. If huggable urns help a grieving parent, child, etc who the hell are you to judge?

It's hard enough trying to cope with a loss without people putting you down for your coping methods.

My partner and I lost our baby at 20 weeks and at times all I want to do is hold her, these bears provide that for me so why is it creepy for a grieving mother to cuddle her child?

If you have lost a child and can cope, good on you well done. But for me I am thankful for this product.

Anyone who disagrees can grow the hell up and get their own god damn life!

    1. Dear Anonymous,
I'm sorry you and your partner lost your little one. My husband and I have a friend who lost their 11-year-old to pediatric brain stem cancer a few years ago, and I can't even imagine what it must be like to lose a child.
It's a terrible loss. I hope you are able to have another child when you're ready.
