You've Got Mail: Hallowe'en Edition

So remember, like, a thousand years ago, when I was on my then-local TV station regarding the DVD which had been released on home haunters?

If you don't, don't worry, because I barely remembered it, and I owned the DVD!

Anyway, I was going through my mail after the postman came the other day, and I pulled out a letter, addressed to my former, married name. Generally speaking, mail addressed to that name comes off someone's old mailing list, and it's a credit card offer or somethin generic like that. But this one was handwritten.

Which, after the shenanigans I was put through, made it even more suspicious. But I didn't recognize the handwriting. So, of course, I opened it.

Guess what? It was fan mail, of all things!

This nice person actually took the time to write a real, live letter to share his love of Hallowe'en and let me know that something I said on the DVD resonated with him! How cool is that?

I assure you I will remain the down-to-earth, humble person I've always been, and not let my fame go to my head!

Weekend Shenanigans, Part 3

Well, it's been a couple of days over what I thought I would post this, but it's the busy season, right?

Well, anyway, once I got home from my Hallowe'en retail therapy excursion I sat down to my laptop to catch up on a few things and check on my Facebook feed. Turns out my buddy, Cory Hunt (Nightmare Playgrounds, Preston Castle) was teaching scare actor techniques just up the road from me, at Heartstoppers Haunted House!

I haven't had a chance to see him in a couple of years, and I know the owner of the haunt, Joel Watson (who was in the documentary Halloween Home Haunts with me a couple of years back), so a visit was in order!

With a regretful wave and a promise to be back shortly (which didn't happen, and you knew it wouldn't!), I piled back into the car and drove out to Heartstoppers.

I can't show you a whole bunch because I don't want to ruin their surprises, but I had to share the above window with you! Tissue paper over the window gets that great stained glass effect.

Of course, selfies with Cory were a requirement. We texted one over to the Davis Graveyard crew...

Heartstoppers current location is at an old arcade/miniature golf course. It's been abandoned for years and while they keep trying to sell or lease the property (it became an RV sales lot for a little while) they haven't had any luck. It works great for the haunted house, though, because of all these cool tunnels which run under the property!

There are a bunch of talented actors and artists. One of them painted this incredibly creepy mural:

The picture doesn't do it justice. It's very impressive in person!

 After they packed it in for the evening, I twisted some arms to get them to go to The Fat Rabbit in Folsom. It's a nifty place with reasonably priced, good food, craft beer and a convivial atmosphere. We had a blast! It was so wonderful to spend some time with "my people!"

 A last selfie with Cory and it was back home, much later than I'd expected, but with a happy heart.

So... Um... Famous Again... Sort Of...

So, like, I'm on local television this Friday during the 11:00A.M. Pacific Time hour.

Sacramento and Company is having Jonathan Morken of Apprehensive Films on to promote Halloween Home Haunts DVD that came out last month, and he invited me to join him on the show! Why? Because I'm in the film. Or do I say, "On the DVD"? I'm not sure. But there it is!

So, this is live TV, and all I can think of is, "Wow. I can make a complete ass of myself in front of a live TV audience! What a great opportunity!"

OK, it's because I'm a (not-so) latent attention whore.

Crazy, I know, but there it is. And? You should totally find out where you can see this film. It's gotten great reviews, and if you want to get an inside look at folks who haunt, this is a fun chance to do so!

And, incidentally, my fifteen minutes is up around twenty or so...

Halloween Home Haunts-First Review!

It looks like the first review for Halloween Home Haunts is on Amazon! I actually took a look and saw my name in the credits, which was pretty surreal.

Hey, it's not Mr. Jones, but it's going to be fun!

Leeeaaaaving! On a Jet Plane!

Friday morning, I'll be winging my way to West Coast Haunters Convention in Portland, Oregon. I'll be bringing some of my Hallowe'en ceramics to booth 27, the Hauntcast booth, so please do stop over and say hello if you're in the area!

And Joel Watson and I have been asked to introduce the Halloween Home Haunts movie at the screening on Saturday, from 3:00-4:30.

I'm really looking forward to seeing everyone there!

Halloween Home Haunts at West Coast Haunters Convention!

I have been silent here for a few days because I've been feverishly working towards the West Coast Haunters Convention! I was, for the most part, cleaned out of my Hallowe'en ceramics last year, so I'm trying to have some stock to take up and sell while I'm pimping Hauntcast.

In the midst of this preparation, I got an email from Kasey Roberts of the West Coast Haunters Convention (she coordinates the speakers and is Ed Roberts' wife and supervisor! ;)), saying that Jonathan Morken of Apprehensive Films would not be able to attend the convention and introduce his new documentary, Halloween Home Haunts, at the premier screening. Would Joel Watson of Heartstoppers Haunted House and I mind doing it?

Would I mind? Of course I'd do it!

Attention whore? Me? Yes!

Kidding aside, I'm very honored to have been asked, and super honored to sharing the duties with Joel Watson. I just can't believe it's next week, already!
