Midsummer Scream!

It's official! I've been accepted, once again into the largest Halloween and horror convention in the US, Midsummer Scream! YAAAS!

It's been four years since my last show, and I'm so excited! I'm so grateful to the show owners for getting me in and welcoming me back to the Halloween fold.

I also had a phone call from an owner of a different show who said she's going to try to get me into her show if a space opens up. (She has a list of folks who had been accepted into last year's show, but the show had to close down because of Covid-19 restrictions. Understandably, they have first right of refusal.)

What was especially heartwarming about hearing from her was her sharing that people had been asking where I was those first couple of years after I moved back to Los Angeles. I am really hoping that a space opens up for me and I can go see old friends and meet new ones with some of the great new pieces I'm working on! I love to have new offerings for people to fall in love with!

Anyway, if you want to hit an amazing convention, be sure to make some time at the end of July for Midsummer Scream!

Season's Screamings!

Just a few pics from Season's Screamings in Pasadena, which is still going on today, in case you can make it!

Although most people seemed to be a little on the tired side (setup was Friday morning, and the show opened on Friday evening), spirits were high! We were getting to see each other again and share in our favorite hobby/lifestyle: spookiness!

I got to see some of my favorite vendors and some friends whom I've missed very much over the last couple of years of lockdowns. I've been like most people these days: isolated and loving it! And I know that's the time I need to kick my own butt and get out to see folks.

Sorry the video isn't better, but I loved the Scrooge vibe on this effect! If I had a good place to project this, I probably would!

I'm looking forward to the conventions coming in the New Year!

Midsummer Scream!

Another Midsummer Scream has come and gone, and I cannot wait for next year, when (hopefully) I can be a vendor there, again!
Artis David Everett of Chicken Lips chats with a
fan next to his delightful dead Madame Leota.
Every year, David Markland and Claire Dunlop - plus the White Bats, their personal army of volunteers - gather together the very best of the Hallowe'en community for this incredible weekend convention. The vendors display a dizzying array of strange, unusual, and spooky wares, from makeup and costuming to movie posters and soaps to paintings and sculpture!
The Ghostbusters of So. Cal. were in the house, with their packs and coveted copy of Tobin's Spirit Guide.
I discovered a new (for me) vendor in Haunted Manor.

And there was just so much cool stuff to be had! I really wish I'd had more to spend!
I can honestly say that I'd never seen a mouse murder house before, but I suppose it was inevitable.
The Hall of Shadows was filled with small, walk-through haunts which were a ton of fun, plus there were some very elaborate and drool-inducing displays.

I tell you, when I've paid off all the dang attorney's fees from my divorce, there will be some serious thought about the decorating style of my new place...
To all the folks at Midsummer Scream, see you next year!
