Hi, gang!

I'm expanding my audience for my ceramics and thought that I'd combine it with a potter's version of a fireside chat. If you have time, would you watch this and give me some honest feedback? I'm not fishing for compliments! I'd like some real opinions so I can improve this!

Artist Open House Today!

This here baby is already in his new home, scaring the spooks away from his new owner's front door!

Yesterday... Well... It was a long day, and I was on my feet for almost all of it.

 It's my yearly "deep-clean-before-people-come-tomorrow" day, and that took a couple of hours. I do wash the patio down from time to time to keep the clay dust to a minimum, after sweeping up the larger chunks while wearing a KN-97 mask (inhaling clay dust can lead to silicosis, which, um, no thank you), but a deep cleaning requires moving the furniture and the lion's share of my ceramics equipment off the patio area and the trash cans from their nook. 

Dead wasps? Washed away. Cobwebs? Gone. Literal, garden-variety dirt? Swept up and dumped back into the garden beds. I even take the pressure nozzle and knock the dead leaves off of our old wisteria vine so there aren't many to deal with the next day.

So today is setup and I have to get rolling. Keep an eye out for my shop to reopen in the next day or two so you can grab a Halloween thing for yourself!

New Needful Things WIP/Shop is Open!

 

 

I am loving these new underglaze transfers so much! There are so many nifty combinations to play with. I think that I'll eventually design a few of my own, but these are a great jumping off point. Thank you, Elan Transfers!

It's amazing how many great things creative energy is bringing into life right now. I'm just basking in it!

Shop Update Tonight!

 
I have been playing around with new ideas and designs and these are the best cups, EVAH! RPG cups, hand-carved porcelain, Pinup girls, retro space rockets, and more! (Scroll down for a couple of NSFW cups) I even got some bowls done!

The ShellHawk's Creations Etsy store goes live tonight at 5:00 PM PST!

I also have the beginnings of Halloween things which will be in the shop tonight, so be sure to set your alert for 5:00 PM, Pacific time!

2023 - 0 Stars. Would Not Recommend

The short version is that a bunch of people in my life died within a six-week period and the aftermath is, well, just a lot to deal with. Hiding in bed, while effective for short periods of time, is not a sustainable option!

But life goes on, right?

After the rains let off, I started to get back out to making things, this time with a specific market in mind.

These particular cups will have some Dungeons and Dragons-related phrases on their medallions! I have some new glaze combinations to play with and I am so excited to be able to offer these soon! There's a game shop close by and I'm going to take a few over there to see if perhaps they'd like to carry them. I haven't made the effort to get in a retail shop before, so it's a new adventure!

There's another nearby shop which expressed interest in my "just breathe" cups, so I made some to take over to them. The kiln is nearly full enough to run a bisque firing, and after that, it'll be at least a full day of agonizing over colors and glaze combinations, and then several more days of glazing and putting the glaze combos into my spreadsheet!

After that, there will be a shop update with some of the new bowls in addition to new cups!
