New Needful Things WIP/Shop is Open!

 

 

I am loving these new underglaze transfers so much! There are so many nifty combinations to play with. I think that I'll eventually design a few of my own, but these are a great jumping off point. Thank you, Elan Transfers!

And the ShellHawk's Creations Etsy shop is open until tomorrow night, since my wares will be available at Geeky Teas and Games in Burbank on Saturday!

It's amazing how many great things creative energy is bringing into life right now. I'm just basking in it!

Shop Update Tonight!

 
I have been playing around with new ideas and designs and these are the best cups, EVAH! RPG cups, hand-carved porcelain, Pinup girls, retro space rockets, and more! (Scroll down for a couple of NSFW cups) I even got some bowls done!

Racing towards Goal #1

I've been so busy juggling life, work, side jobs and making Supernatural mugs! I mean, holy goodnight! It's been stressful, but in the best of possible ways!

I've had varied success in adding words so that they're legible. I tried carving, but the grog in the clay keeps messing things up, so I'm back to using letter stamps and inlaying color into the words. It's a pretty painstaking process!

I've been waiting to hear back from the ceramics center regarding firing costs for both the bisque firing and the subsequent glaze firing, as well as when they can fit me in. Now, I actually have a date! Hooray!

I get to go load their kiln on the 25th, first thing in the morning! It'll be the first time I'll be loading a kiln, myself, since I left Folsom, and I'm really looking forward to it! At long last, I feel like things are getting back to a steady normal!

Kiln Fruit

A quick peek into the kiln, because I just couldn't wait to see!

Remember all those cups I stamped a while back? Well, I spent this past weekend glazing them and was finally able to unload the kiln on Wednesday afternoon!

 I am really pleased with the results, and I think I can honestly say this is the best kiln load, so far!

As you can see, there are some glaze drips to grind down, but not many, and nothing which will ruin the piece!

The only tragedy I had was the larger of the two teapots. I'll have to replace the lid since the original developed a glaze drip on the inside, which created a lip so that the lid couldn't be removed. As Gilda Radner said, "It's always something!"

New in the Shop!

I sent Bob some sketches last year, and we talked about the direction in which I wanted it to go. After some back and forths and some wonderful tweaking on his part, he came up with some spooktacular art!

After Bob was done, I sent them over to Evenas Design for the craft beer label treatment. 

"So this skeleton walks into a bar..."

 And then, there was The Great ShellHawk's Creations Photo Shoot at Oak Park Brewing Company! These crazy kids had fun with this amateur photographer, but even more fun was when one of them busted out some props and costume parts!

 And soon, there will be coffee mugs and beer steins available! (And yes, some jacks will be up soon, too!)
