Werewolf Moon

*Sound of wolf howling somewhere off in the distance*
"Werewolf!"

"Werewolf?"

"There."
"What?"
"There wolf. There castle."

"Why are you talking that way?"

"I thought you wanted to."
"No, I don't want to."
"Suit yourself. I'm easy."
-Young Frankenstein

Last night, after securing the chains to my stirring witch's cauldron and giving the laboratory-I mean, Garage of Doom, of course-a good sweep and cleanup, I wandered outside. The radio said that we might have thunderstorms today, and the clouds should be rolling in overnight. It was after 11:00 p.m. It was quiet but for the crickets and the sound of the wind. It felt like Fall had come early.

I closed up the garage and went into the house, then back out through the front door. It had been a busy day in the Garage of Doom, and I felt good about the progress of the witch and that the shop was picked up and tidy so I could hit the ground running today. I looked up at the full moon and the clouds scudding by, listened to the wind and the crickets. I had hoped my little frog buddies would sing, too, but they were silent.

I admit that it's been far too long since I slowed down and taken time out to enjoy something as simple as a moonlit night. Life is only as busy as you make it, and I've made it very busy of late. Intellectually, I know I should be taking time for daily meditation and exercise, but somehow, it doesn't happen. I just get up in the morning and jump into the day with both feet. Someone I once knew told me I was a "human doing," rather than a "human being." Guilty as charged. I took a minute to rectify that last night.

Here's a video I took. You'll love it if you're the type of person who likes to watch paint dry. ;o)

  1. Yanno, once you stare at it long enough (say... 2 minutes and 34 seconds) when the moon is fully behind the clouds you start seeing a baby chicken. If you watch it twice in a row, the baby chicken talks to you.

hehe, lovely pics and video. I took a moment to be a human BEING with you!
